Our Spine Care specialist, Dr. Ekstrom,
provides a number of surgical and non-surgical treatments for back and neck
pain. He offers a wide range of treatments for back or neck pain,
including rehabilitation, injections, and surgery.
Dr. Ekstrom is a great listener and takes
the time to help you decide what's the best option for treating your pain.
"Spine procedures are for people who
have failed conservative treatments or who are in so much pain they can't
endure the normal treatments," Dr. Ekstrom explained.
"For most people, physical therapy or
chiropractic care can sufficiently treat their pain. But for others, these
injections will effectively treat their condition or at least improve them to
the point where they can do physical therapy or chiropractic
care."
Dr. Ekstrom offers injections of the
lumbar, facet joint, sacrociliac, knee, shoulder and bursa among others. Many
patients find relief of symptoms within a few weeks. Often this helps control
the inflammatory process and may provide long-lasting relief.
Teamwork is an essential component in
treating patients, Dr. Ekstrom said, and that includes injection procedures.
"We don't do these injections in isolation. It's part of whatever their
care plan is and almost always involves their primary care provider,"
Ekstrom said.
